Q: 35mm films?

Question:

Fuji has less grain per speed than Kodak but tends toward the greens and oranges more. It’s a matter of taste though.

That is no longer true.  Supra 800 is definitely finer grained than Fuji Super G+ / Superia Xtra / Press 800.  Supra 400 is closer to its true speed than New Superia / Press 400, producing better shadows with less clumpiness, and smoother skin tones and blue skies.

Hi! I just ordered an Olympus Stylus Epic from cameraworld.com. I’d like to know which 35mm film you recommend to go in that camera.  I had great results in the past with Kodak Gold.  Is there anything better? Anything similar for cheaper?  What about Fuji and Konica?  Worth buying?

Kodak gold is a "consumer" film, so you won’t find cheaper at the same quallity. Try Kodak Royal Gold, not really more expensive and it’s currently my film of choice. You must try Fuji. Same quality as Kodak, different system. The Fuji Superia is the equivalent to Kodak Gold. It’s a very good film and I prefer it’s 400 then Kodak. Just make sure have your Kodak films process by Kodak labs and Fuji by Fuji labs. I’ve never tried Konica. If you do use it, make sure to test it before putting anything important on it. Maybe a very good film, I don’t know. You migth also want to try AGFA. People usually love it or hate it. Same thing as Konica (or other), try before using it for important occasion. Thanks!

If you use Gold, at least get Royal Gold. But I prefer the Fuji line, and recommend Reala for 100 ISO. At 400, get the Superia 400.

It depends on the picture-taking situation.  For casual snapshooting I’ve settled on Fuji Superia 800 (I think they call it "Plus" rather than "800"). Bear in mind that A LOT depends on the lab that does the processing.

A good lab will correct for it.    200 to 400 will do fine for any outdoor situation and indoors with flash. — Digital Photo restoration in Chapel Hill N.C. http://www.homeusers.prestel.co.uk/magor/tony   NEW — The Teleconverter Page  &           The Night Gallery Before you buy.
