Question:
I have 2 RTS’s, never have had a repair! The Glass is awsum. Durability of the bodies.

Hello all, Why did you chose Contax over Nikon, Canon, Pentax, etc.
Well, it’s sort of a natural evolution, isn’t it? The Contax bodies are very nicely laid out, and they don’t pretend to be high-tech by being overly complicated. The great thing about the lenses is the consistency. They have no "bad" f-stops or focusing distances. None of that "it doesn’t really come into it’s own until two stops down" crap. You can switch between lenses and still get the same contrast and colour balance, which is useful if you do your own printing or if you project slides. The mechanical qualities of the lenses are also outstanding, espeially if you compare them to autofocus lenses. and what are your favorite T-star lenses? Mark
Don’t under-estimate the 35/2.8. It’s great from 2.8, corner to corner, and quite small. Rather than make a list of the other lenses available (both new and used), I can repeat my first point, which is that they are all very good. Unlike some other brands, you don’t have to wonder if your lens is "one of the good ones," or "good for a zoom (but not for picture-taking)". Bernard

Mark, I switched from a long time Nikon user to Contax a few years ago after picking up a used RTSII and Zeiss T* 50/f1.4 I was amazed at the quality of the images this camera produced. The camera body was finely crafted and an ergonomic delight. My Nikon N90s and N70 just didn’t seem to challenge me the way this manual focus camera did. I switched and have slowly collected several Zeiss lenses and Contax camera bodies. I find my overall interest in photography has grown due to the quality of photographs this system is capable of producing as well as the deterministic approach demanded by using a manual focus camera.(I haven’t tried the autofoucus Contax AX but may someday if my eyes begin to fail

Hi Mark, I got my first Contax 139 with the Carl Zeiss 50 1.7mm in 1982. I have left the camera in Canada when I moved back to Hong Kong on 1992. Recently, I start to build back my Contax collection and I have the Aria, 28-70mm, and the 85mm 1.4. My next item should be a wide angle lense, either 35mm 1.4 or 21mm 2.8, and maybe the RX or AX… With all the CZ lenses I had, I like the 85mm 1.4 the most since it is very fast and gives me great details. I have other cameras in my life. My brother uses the Nikon and we share the cameras. I use the Leica Z2X occasionally when I take the business trips. We both agree that the pictures taken with T* lenses have more natural looking color. Wing
