Nikon 28-105 AF-D Question

Question:

I just purchased a Nikon F-100 and a 28-105 AF D lens.  Sometimes when the lens is at the 28mm setting, it clicks as I get past the 35mm setting? Sometimes this does not happen. Is this normal? Thanks

Mine don’t do it ! Take it back and get another if you can !

Ira:   No, I don’t believe this is normal. However, mine does the same thing. Feels like it hits a bit of a "tight" spot but is fine on either side of that spot. Doesn’t seem to interfere with manual or auto focus though.   Weird thing with mine is that if you zoom out to a longer length, the tight spot seems to go with it until about 40-45mm, and then goes away!   Mine seems to be at just about the 3 foot distance mark at 28mm, and moves to just short of the infinity mark at about 40mm.   I have a fair amount of use on my lens already, and this problem seems to be getting worse with usage.  This didn’t start until just recently. I think it will probably go back to Nikon.  Or, I may just sell it as-is, since I’m going back to my prime lenses anyway.  Would suggest if it’s still pretty new, you take it back to your dealer. Cheers Bill Wilson
